For those of you that don’t like asking your friends and families to buy candy bars or stuff out of the booklets that we also use as fundraisers this is another great opportunity for you to raise money. Not only are you able to raise money but you get a chance to meet and work with some of the other fellow band parents while having fun. Not only do we have a wonderful group of students at Washburn Rural in band but we have a wonderful group of parents. I know getting a chance to meet other parents has been one of the things I have enjoyed most about working the events that I have.

Due to the liquor license, all volunteers must be added to a list before they can work an event - the list must be submitted at least 5 days prior to the event to be worked, according to the State of Kansas.  All informaiton will be given to the Alcoholic Beverage Control division.

EVENTS AS OF 9/1/10

Here is a list of the upcoming Expo Events, the stands have been going fast so please check your calendars and let me know ASAP if you’d like to work any of these events.

WRHS Concession Stands

Campbell's Labels/Tyson Project A+

Participation in this program is easy; just save your proofs of purchase from participating Campbell's products and send them to the Campbell's box in the band room. Be sure to include the bar code part of the UPC label, along with Campbell's Kid picture.  For a complete listing of eligible products, please visit www.labelsforeducation.com. Label value is either 1 point or 5 points, which we can redeem for necessary items for our school.

Participation in the Tyson Project A+ is also easy; just look for the label that says "Tyson Project A+ Support Your School", clip the entire label and send to the Campbell's box in the band room. For a complete listing of eligible Tyson products, both bags and boxes, visit www.tyson.com/projecta+. Each label is worth 24¢!

Races at Heartland Park

Washburn Rural has a terrific reputation with EKG Security for providing dependable and responsible support for major race events at Heartland Park. Workers give directions and check ticket stubs throughout the day. The pay is $8/hour per person guaranteed and the money is deposited directly into WRHS band accounts. All workers must be at least 16 years old, and the more adults we have the better.

We generally have openings for the May NHRA Summer Nationals and in 2009 also had opportunities for the American Drag Racing Motor Cross and AMA Superbike races in July.
