Mrs. Sauls

Melissa Sauls is an assistant director of bands at Washburn Rural High School. Before WRHS, Ms. Sauls was the 5-12 Band Director, 7-12 Choir Director, and Theatre Director in the North Jackson School District.

Ms. Sauls graduated from Seaman High School in 2011 and received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Kansas State University in 2016. While attending KSU, Ms. Sauls was involved with The Pride of Wildcat Land, Cat Band, Concert Band, Wind Symphony, Concert Jazz Ensemble, Trombone Choir, Women's Choir, Pit Orchestra, Kansas State University Orchestra, and participated and conducted in the University Band. Ms. Sauls finished up her career at KSU by student teaching under Mr. Chaffee at Washburn Rural.
 
In the Auburn-Washburn School District, Ms. Sauls will assist with the WRHS Marching Jr. Blues and the WRHS Concert Band. She will also travel to the middle school to teach the Music Exploration classes which are a combination of guitar and history of music classes. Ms. Sauls is a member of the Kansas Music Educators Association and the National Association of Music Education. Ms. Sauls is a Topeka native who enjoys traveling, reading, and watching Netflix in her spare time.
